The main beach is only 200m away from Rumah Joglo and is normally not very busy. When the water is clear you will find some good snorkeling just off Rumah Joglo but you need to venture out to the edge of the reef to the deeper water. There is plenty of fish to be seen and underwater caves to be explored. Water proof sandals are recommended and will make the walk across the reef a simple task.
Snorkeling is also very good outside Hotel Mutiara in Carita. Eager vendors may suggest a boat trip to Taman Laut (The Sea Garden). Give it a miss as the reef has been destroyed by dynamite fishing.
